In my homeschool, preschool is a big deal. It is the foundation on which everything is built. While this might sound scary for first time homeschoolers, don’t be alarmed! Academics isn’t everything. It isn’t even the majority.
There are an infinite amount of facts you could teach your children. You might be the type who likes to fill their heads with lots of amazing facts that most of your adult friends don’t know and you can succeed at making a lot of them stick. But the two most important things that you can instill in your preschooler are character and curiosity.
Character is the ability to do what is right no matter what others are doing and curiosity has to do motivation, passion, and confidence.
Of course your children won’t fully grasp the concepts of good character for years to come, but now is the time to start loading them up. The sooner the better.
Habits take root quickly and aren’t easily removed. If you are diligent to train up your children in the way they should go right now when they are still small, it will be hard for them to forget. Maybe one day they will stray, but most likely they’ll come back too their roots.
While healthy habits instill character, curiosity is what drives people to accomplish great things. It is the will to learn more than what is necessary, to explore the unknown, and to do it with vigor. It was sucked out of me in public school and I am diligently learning not to do the same to my children because with it, they’ll have the ability to educate themselves.
To give you a few pointers, in the next week I will cover how we Homeschool Preschool. Topics include:

Hi Briton, Hi Janine am George, a father of two Brian and Emily. I agree academics isn’t everything and character building is everything. Bringing up my two blessings with Christian morals to always choose right is my number priority. It’s true this gives them countless free resources and unbeatable free advice to help them grow. I have my own schedule but lack in the overall experience. This post is just what many parents like me need. Thank you and God bless you both.
