If you’re new to Pinterest, make sure you check out this beginner’s guide post. If you’re a seasoned user, you probably do all of these things already, but when I first got my secret boards I left that space empty forever. Everything went on my public boards. Being a blogger I didn’t see why I would want to keep any post a secret. Now I know better.
I’m already on Pinterest a lot more than I should be, so why not use that time to become more organized. I’m sure there are dozens of ways to use secret boards on Pinterest, but here are some things that I do.
My Week
I use Pinterest as a scheduler. I plan meals, activities, things I want to read all with my secret boards. If you are a teacher or homeschooler, you can schedule a different activity for each day to keep your class engaged and loving learning. If you are a parent, it is the perfect meal planner.
Can’t seem to find time for Bible Study? Pin a devotional or a chapter to read on your weekly schedule boards. You can even pin events happening in your community. The pictures don’t have to be pretty because they aren’t public boards, they are whatever you want them to be!
My Kids
These little ones keep me on my toes and I like to keep them on their’s too. So I pin lessons, activities, crafts, parenting advice and projects that challenge and cater to their different personalities. I made one board for each child. If you are a teacher, this is a great way to connect with parents. You could make a secret board for your class or each child if you are ambitious, and share it with their parents.
Now, you might have already done this on your public boards, but when you start having more children it gets a little tricky. Plus there are things you might not want to share.
My Lists
Make Christmas and Birthday shopping easy by pinning things that you find online that match perfectly with someone special. I usually have just one big board for this and then in the description I put the person’s name that I want to buy it for.
My Holidays
Planning for holidays and events can be stressful, so just put it on a secret board. I have TONS of ideas for holidays on my public boards, but that gets annoying having to scroll through all of them to find the ones that I want to do that year. I like to make a Thanks Giving Board with pins for my menu and a Christmas board with meal ideas and a few handmade crafts the kids can make for gifts.
Secret Pinterest boards are great for event planning. Whether you’re throwing someone a baby shower, getting ideas for Sunday school, or organizing a surprise birthday, you can add your family and friends to the board to help gather ideas and divide tasks. I’m planning a Science Co-op this fall and have a secret board just for that.
My Family and Friends
I love seeing what my friends and family are pinning but sometimes they get drowned out by all the other people I’m following. I love the idea of having a friends and family board where I can see what they’re looking at and interested in.
