Until just a few days ago I didn’t realize renting homeschool curricula was even an option! Whenever someone asked me how to get an affordable curriculum, I’d always recommend ebooks, used curriculum or curriculum swaps. Thanks to Yellow House Book Rental there is another great option.
Don’t forget to enter the awesome giveaway for $25 for anything in the Yellow House Book Store at the end of the post (doesn’t have to be a rental)! For more information on giveaways read my full disclosure.
Why would you want to rent homeschool curriculum? There are so many reasons! Here are 3:
1. It’s Cheaper
The most expensive books you will purchase are your teacher guides. These have instructions and answer keys in them and may come with a DVD. If you aren’t going to be using it year after year, consider renting it at less than half the cost! This is a huge savings especially if you’re not sure which curriculum you want to use.
2. Flexibility
The worst experience for a homeschooler is trying a new curriculum that your child doesn’t enjoy. You can avoid this plight by renting! With Yellow House Book you can rent a new curriculum to try it out. All rentals are available for purchase. If you like it, all you have to do is pay the difference between the cost and the rental fee. Then, it is yours to keep!
3. Less Hassle
Books take up a lot of room! Spend less time organizing and storing curriculum, and more time teaching. Maybe you are saving those books to resell, but with the value lost and effort it takes, it may not be worth it. Save yourself the hassle, rent your books, and return them for free at the end of the year. That’s a lot easier than trying to sell your used books every year!

Rent use and return!
normally download because it’s free/way cheaper, but I’d look into rent to own for future kids
Id like to do rent to own.
I prefer to purchase new or used curricula. Although, I am interested in the rent-to-own option now. I never knew this website existed. Thank you for sharing this information and for the chance to win this giveaway! I saw several products from companies we use so this is of great help to me.
I would go with rent to own also
I think rent and return
Rent to own
I usually buy a mix of new and used. I have six children so renting isn’t a good option! Thanks for the chance to win!
I like the used curriculum options the best since I know I’m personally going to be reusing them! This is a cool option though!
I like to buy used!
New to home school and this looks like my answer.
I like rent to own!
Either rent or rent to own, not sure…..
I prefer the rent use and return option
Rent use return, or buy used
I like the option to buy and sell back. I like the option to instantly download too.

I am unable to get the website to come up for me, but from the options I see others posting above, I would probably buy used, as we have nine children and pass our curriculum down.
What? You can rent homeschool books? Awesome! I’m going to have to check this out.

Rent to own
I prefer to purchase new or used curriculum. Or swap. I have several children so books will probably be used more than once, and I don’t have to worry about damaging or losing a book that needs to be returned.
I would prefer rent to own….I have many kids in line…then I can continue to use the book..but also be able to try it out to make sure it is a good fit for our family!
I like the rent use return option
I prefer to buy used:)
