This is another simple, yet effective flash card game. Children of all ages love it because it uses the Tease, Tickle, Taunt method for motivation.
Lay out the cards and then implement a taunt, “You better not read more than me!”
Take turns reading a card. Make sure you implement a tease, “You can’t read that! There’s no way. It’s too hard!” If you read the card right you get to keep it. If you get it wrong you have to put it back.
Make sure your child is listening when you read a card, just in case you get one wrong.
Opps, Audrey caught me reading the card wrong! |
Finally implement a tickle when they win and say, “You won! I told you not to do that!”
Have fun!

That’s how my youngest works. She is definitely an opposite kid. We have to say I’m going to take a shower, don’t get in before me……. Then she gets right in. It goes that way all day long. She learned to read this way too. We told her she couldn’t read certain books and waited for her to dig in.
