Things in life never seem to go as we think they will, often we’re thrown curve balls that we don’t see coming and barely have time to prepare for. When we don’t have time to prepare for these unexpected happenings in our life we can get weighed down with stress, concern and worry. We know deep within our hearts that God is in control and that He knows the end from the beginning, but we are human after all and letting go and letting God isn’t always as easy as it truly should be. We like to be in control, but faith isn’t about control. Faith requires us to let go. Here are 3 tips for a renewed spirit.
3 Tips for a Renewed Spirit
When we hold onto the stress, concern and worry that comes along with the unexpected, our spirits will be brought down. By failing to let go and let God, we are choosing to allow our mind, body and spirit to be worn down. We were not meant to hold onto everything that comes our way alone, God wants to take our burden and renew our spirits. God waits for us to hand over our cares to Him, but will we let Him take control?
- Take a walk and pray
When spirits are broken, fresh air can do amazing things! Getting outside and alone with your thoughts can give you clarity regarding things happening in your life. Once you’re alone with your thoughts and nature, you can cry out to God and pour out your heart to Him. He is waiting and having nothing around to distract you from the need to talk to Him, you will find the peace and strength that He alone can provide.
- Give thanks throughout the day
No matter what is happening in our lives, we always have something to be thankful for. When we take time to give thanks for the blessings that God has given us, we will begin to see just how wonderful He truly is. Giving thanks can give us a new perspective in the midst of storms in our lives. We realize that we are not alone and that God is walking alongside us because we see His hand moving throughout our lives along the way.
- Let it go
Holding onto something tightly in our hands doesn’t keep us from stress, concern or worry, instead it keeps us from living a life of freedom. God offers us a gift, the ability to let go of struggles in our life and let Him take care of them. Yet, all too often we’d rather hold right onto them and try to take care of things ourselves. Letting go and letting God is a gift, will we open our hands and accept it?
Renewing our spirits isn’t always an easy process. Sometimes a short time in prayer is all that we need to find the strength to move on. Other times, it may take more than just a simple walk outside and one conversation with God. We need to learn to recognize when we need to take time to allow God to renew our spirits. Then, we must take the steps necessary to let go of what we’re struggling with so that God can work.
What steps do you take to allow God the opportunity to renew your spirit?

Great tips! I found letting go to be the greatest tip I ever received, it is so simple and yet so powerful Holding on to something leads to most of the distress. We deserve to be free and that is how Lord created us.
