It is good to let children be bored. Most likely, they will find a way to play on their own. To entice my almost 5 year old to read, I follow the words with my fingers and then pause at the words I think she knows or can sound out and when she does, she gets hugs and high fives.
To beat boredom, I saw someone on Pinterest create a boredom jar, so we have little cards in a jar, she has to choose from and do if she ever comes up with the “I’m bored” line 🙂
