My little one has outgrown his bassinet. That’s why I’m so excited to share a brand new kind of sleep sac that helped make the transition to the crib a lot easier, sponsored by Zipadee-Zip. This post contains an awesome giveaway, for more information please read my full disclosure.

To a little baby, a big crib can be intimidating or interesting depending on their personality. When my baby was 5 months old he was ready to sleep in a crib. The first time I put him in the crib, I swaddled him in a blanket. He quickly discovered that he had more space to explore and would thrash about to try and get out of his regular swaddle. Which he did immediately.

As soon as I put him in the Zipadee-Zip, he knew he couldn’t get out. No thrashing and no getting out of this amazing sleep sack. Plus, he stayed asleep. The star shaped Zipadee-Zip mimics the womb so my baby felt safe in the big open space of the crib.

I was afraid that this sleep sack wouldn’t work because my baby likes to suck his fingers. The first time I tried it, I put both hands in and he still fell asleep! It seemed like it took him a little longer to self-soothe, but I fixed that by leaving one hand out. In the future, I will definitely put both hands in to see if it helps break him of his finger sucking habit.

If you have a baby that is moving from the bassinet to the crib or is having a hard time transitioning out of the swaddle, you must try the Zipadee-Zip. The special new sleep sack is specifically designed to help baby sleep in those transition periods after about 4-5 months of age. It keeps arms and legs contained to help with your baby’s startle reflex.

I can’t say enough about the Zippy! In the first picture, I brought it along to our 4th of July celebration and he slept through the commotion! The sleep sack is light weight so even in our 100 degree weather, he can be ‘swaddled’ comfortably. The curved shape on the bottom of the sack enables me to put him right in the car seat without taking the Zippy off so I don’t disturb him too much if he’s sleeping and we have to go somewhere.

Babies that used to sleep well through the night in their swaddle might be ready for a Zippy if they start waking up multiple times during the night, trying to escape the swaddle or roll over. You’ll want to have a Zippy on hand and ready when that happens so no one looses any sleep.
