Free Printable Christmas Bingo Game

There are 5 Bingo cards in this pack. Whether you’re trying to fight boredom, plan a family game night, or wanting something for a long car ride, play this Bingo game! Bingo is interactive and can be a way to keep the kiddos off of electronics for a bit.

In Bingo, the goal is to get five in a row vertical, horizontal, or diagonal.  Hand out a Bingo card to each child. Designate a “caller” or cut one of the cards up. The caller should pull out an image, and each player should cross off that image on their Bingo card. The first person to get five in a row wins!

8 Tips for Successful Homeschool Organization

1. Get rid of old curriculum you no longer need.

As kids enter another grade, take a day to go through old curriculum and educational materials you have. Make three piles; save, sell, or trash. One of my favorite ways to sell old curriculum is through Homeschool Curriculum Facebook groups and eBay, where you get to keep the biggest percentage. If you’re looking for a fast way to sell curriculum, I’d recommend Amazon, but they take out a bigger chunk.

2. Make a list of everything you need to buy for the upcoming season.

As you go through old homeschool material, make a list of everything you need to buy for the upcoming season. With your list, price match on sites like Amazon, eBay, or Homeschool Facebook groups for the best bang for your buck. Slugbooks allows you to easily search up books and find the best deal on multiple sites.

If you enjoy personalizing your studies, many homeschool blogs have free or low cost unit studies from subjects ranging from math to history. Pinterest has great resources from hundreds of experienced homeschool moms just like you. These unit studies, free or low cost, are especially helpful if you’re on a budget; specifically with science, art, history and PreK-5th grade language.

3. Create labelled bins for pens, pencils, markers, glue, paper, etc.

As homeschoolers, it’s easy to accumulate tons of writing utensils, notebooks, and glue. Involve your kids by having them go through markers that no longer work, sharpen pencils, scrap paper, or empty glue bottles. Take a rubbermaid storage container and keep a drawer for each.

4. Plan a weekly schedule.

Flexibility is one of my favorite things about homeschooling. Still, I love the structure of a schedule and an idea of what I want to accomplish each day. This will be different for each family, but creating a to-do list worked best for our family. We would have a general to-do list of the subjects we wanted to cover, and worked on them accordingly.

5. Organize binders and categories by subject.

Organize bins; one for math textbooks, math flashcards, and math manipulative. Keep another for language arts, science, and so on. We love using plastic milk crates, because they’re easy to stack and pretty sturdy.

6. Make sure everything has a place.

The secret to successful homeschool organization is simple: after you’re done with one subject during a homeschool day, put everything back in its place. Make a rule to keep out only one subject at a time, or one subject out per child. Putting everything back keeps this less messy, and decreases the likelihood of not being able to find a pair of scissors.

7. Get a filing system down.

I use Thirty One’s Fold N Files for organizing papers. Throughout my busy week, I throw all of my papers in my Fold N File; a receipt, something I need to file in my portfolio, or a paper needing to be finished. Then, when I have a few minutes of spare time, I put everything in the file in its new home.

8. Know what you need for homeschool records, portfolios, and personal favorites.

A three ring punch was one of the best things we ever bought. If your state requires you to send records of your homeschool, grab a large binder and put all required information in there throughout the year. Do the same thing with a portfolio, and a collection of your favorite homeschool projects and accomplishments to look back on.

Handwriting for Preschoolers

With clear directions using green and red dots, children can easily practice handwriting skills on their own.  Simply print out the worksheets and slip them into sheet protectors.  Now using dry erase markers, you’ve created a reusable drawing tool!  Preschoolers love having their own “drawing” book.  Keep it accessible to them throughout the day so they can practice whenever they want.

Once children successfully complete the basic drawing worksheets on their own, they’re ready to form their first letters!

Our Prewriting printables include the basic shape worksheets my daughter is working on at the top of the post. These are easy to use and large enough for small hands to trace.

Schedule practice into your children’s routine so they get used to using their handwriting and drawing book, but also keep it readily available.  Remember to keep their scheduled practice time short and reward them for a job well done!  We like to use popsicle sticks, stickers, healthy snacks, and words of praise.

The short story is, I couldn’t find any so I made some. Here’s what I came up with; Stained Glass Nativity Ornaments.

They are pretty enough to laminate and keep for a while or give them to people on presents like gift tags. You could also use some clear tape and hang them in the window.

To be honest, I had fun coloring some too. I printed the ornaments on card stock and used my BIC permanent markers to color each little area a different color. Colored pencils or crayons would work great too!

I tried to keep each section the same hue; I used blues and yellows for the sky, greens and browns for the ground.

We tried adding some oil to the back of the ornaments in a few places so the light can come through them even more and make them really look like stained glass. The great thing about these nativity ornaments is that the Christmas story really shows through because they’re in black silhouettes. That means they look awesome on the tree!

These are definitely laminate-worthy and if you do use a little oil, or choose to oil the whole backside, it will help the oil from getting on other things.

The habit has turned their taste buds toward the healthy side and now my kids actually enjoy veggies. In fact, they have no problem eating a plain salad for dinner – no dressing!

Although they’ve already adopted the tradition of eating veggies first, I wanted to teach them more about all the food groups and how they can choose a balanced meal on their own. That way when we’re not at home, like at a party or restaurant, they’ll know what to put on their plate to make a complete meal that gives them the nutrition they need to stay healthy.

So, I made this free printable file folder game with lots of possibilities for learning.

Food Groups Printable File Folder Game

To make your own, simply print off the free food group printable below. Use cardstock to prevent your game pieces from being bent or ruined. You can also laminate them for even more durability. You’ll need a manila folder, scissors, and tape or glue.

After attaching the plain food pyramid and food plate pages onto the inside of your manila folder, cut out the other images to make a food pyramid puzzle and food group sorting game. I used some clear contact paper to laminate my pieces.

Before playing, explain the food pyramid to your children and talk about the different food groups. Each food group on the pyramid has daily serving sizes. For example, everyday we should eat about 6oz of grains and most of them whole grains like brown rice or whole wheat. If you break that down further, 1oz is about 1 slice of bread.

Pointing out the colors of food matter too. There are lots of different colors of vegetables and fruits and it is good to eat all those colors in our diets because each color represents different kinds of nutrients that are bodies need to grow big and strong.

My daughter loved putting the puzzle together and matching the right food to their category on her plate. You can easily extend the plate activity by having your children draw their own food cards. What are their favorite foods and what food group do they belong to?

When they’re all done playing, clean up is easy with the handy card holder that goes on the front of the folder and keeps all the pieces in one place.

There are those words that every child struggles with when they start reading.  They’re the ones you can’t sound out and they show up all the time.  The most frequently used words in books are words that cannot be sounded out.  So when teaching my children to read, I use a combination of phonics and sight words.
