My son especially likes all of the fine motor activities that are in it. There’s a threading card, cutting practice, clip cards, and puzzle!

Kids will get lots of letter U writing practice with a tracing page, maze, letter search, and completing the word. I like to put them in sheet protectors to make them reusable. Have your children repeat the letter sound as they write. They’ll learn it in no time!

Free Preschool Printables: Short U Sound Pack

There are 10 pages total with lots of easy words for kids to read with the short letter U. The 10 pages are easy enough for preschoolers to learn how to do on their own, but challenging enough to get good reading practice in. This inspired me to create a fun hands-on activity to help my children learn their lowercase letters. They love ice cream and matching games, so I combined the two into a preschool alphabet busy bag activity! They love it, and I hope your little ones do, too!

For this letter match activity, all of the capital letters are on ice cream scoops, and all of the lowercase letters are on cones. Your child matches each capital letter to its lowercase partner and creates lots of different color ice cream cones in the process.

Free Preschool Alphabet Printable

First, I printed out ice cream scoops on different color paper and pasted a capital letter on each one. Janine went ahead and eliminated that step for you, so the capital letters are on the scoops for you already! Yay! I recommend using lighter colors so that the letters can be easily seen.

I also printed out cones with a lowercase letter on each one. (I just made them gray to save on ink.) I didn’t cut them to a point because I know they will last longer that way in my household, and no little fingers will get poked. I then cut out the scoops and cones and laminated them. Voila! A mouth-watering alphabet activity for preschoolers!

Once your child becomes familiar with all of the letters, you can even switch things up to create new activities. For example, turn the scoops and cones over and play memory match, or use the scoops to create words and turn it into a reading activity. Scroll down to download your free busy bag printables.

Busy bags are a fantastic way to keep little ones busy while you do chores, homeschool older children, or just need some quiet time in the house! Their hands and minds engage in play that uses both cognitive and fine motor skills with this activity, so I hope your children enjoy this free printable!
