When you are young and broke, homemade are the only gifts you can afford. I started making gifts back when I was a teen. Usually my mom did it with me, but one year I was determined to make my uncle some peppermint patties. Yorks were his favorite, Junior Mints second.

I grabbed a recipe from an old book from my grandmothers shelf and wasn’t sure what would happen. They turned into minty animal droppings, aka Janine’s Junior Mints, but my uncle didn’t mind; they tasted great! The only problem; I just didn’t make enough.
