Making birthdays special for the man that has everything can be hard to do. Doing little things throughout the day to make your husband feel special will mean more than a big store-bought gift. So here are 10 ways to make your Husband feel special on his birthday.

Some guys aren’t used to getting love notes or specials surprises from their wives, that’s when it is really special to do something out of the ordinary. My Husband just turned 30 and I wanted to do something to make his day memorable.

10 Ways to Make Your Husband’s Birthday Special

Before the big day, I made my plans and went to Walmart. The first thing I shopped for was the cards. Hallmark has a great selection of cards start at 47 cents.

We always get 2 cards. I let the kids pick one out and I select a special one from me. While I was there I got lots of different cards for other occasions that were coming up, that way I would be prepared ahead of time.

1. Breakfast in Bed

Have you ever done this? Sometimes it’s not that easy. Your husband may need to get up early for work. In that case, you can always make a hot breakfast in a bag to go. One of the easiest things to make is a breakfast sandwich with eggs, ham, and cheese on a bagel or English muffin. Wrap it in tin foil to keep it hot and include a side of fruit or yogurt. Don’t forget the birthday note or Hallmark card from the kids!

2. Birthday Notes in the Car

Surprise him throughout the day by hiding special notes or Hallmark cards in his car. Places to hid them; the glove box, visor, center console, on his umbrella.

3. Birthday Surprise in His Desk

What’s your husband‘s favorite snack or candy bar? Get a co-worker to hide his special snack in his desk or locker at work. If he’s not working, you can dress up his snacks in a special way.

4. Skip the Sack Lunch

Have lunch delivered for him at work or go and pick up his favorite take out and deliver it for him. Yum yum!

5. Get His Boss to Make Him Leave Early

This might be difficult, but it would be very special and surprising if his boss said, “Happy Birthday, you can leave early today!” If your husband already has the day off, you can spare him all the housework for the day. Have the kids do his chores, fold his laundry, and make the bed.

6. Balloons

Balloons just make everything more fun! Make a surprise wall of balloons when he comes out of his room in the morning. Decorate the house with Balloons or his car so that when he gets off early he’ll be really surprised!

7. An Adventure

Instead of getting your husband some thing, plan him an experience to remember. Some ideas are: a helicopter ride, balloon ride, tour of fighter jets, a boat or rafting trip, mountain climbing adventure, zip line tour. If he gets off work early to go, have everything he needs ready to go.

8. Dinner

If you’re not having a party or going out to eat, make dinner special by serving his favorite, or something fancy. Have the kids dress up and serve him like he’s in a restaurant. Of course, having a surprise party is always fun too.

9. The Gift

If you do get a gift, wrapping it in an oversize box will help disguise it. Or, make it fun and do a little scavenger hunt. Draw a map and let your husband find it! Offer encouraging clues about how much you care for him to lead him to the gift and make him feel even more special!

10. Your Card

I always like to save my Hallmark card for the end of the day. Just to make it personal and share a special moment.

Everyone likes Batman!  He’s tough, he has a cool car, and every man wants a “bat cave”.  Since my son is still too young to watch the show, we introduced him to Batman through his birthday.  If you’re throwing a Batman Birthday for your child, you’ll love these easy themed party ideas!

Many people don’t have a lot of time or money to spend on birthdays.  Neither do I.  So I used things that I had around the house to decorate and create a really fun Batman atmosphere for cheap!

Batman Party Decorations

First, I searched for Batman Bat images online to print off and hang around the house.  Then I doubled up some black construction paper, traced the bat shape, and cut out lots of bats!

I also used black construction paper to make some wall decorations for pictures.  You could use this dark city idea and add some Free Superhero Printables for any superhero themed party.

Batman to the rescue!  My little birthday boy is wearing a DIY cape from a plastic table cloth, a batman mask, and a no-sew felt arm band.  I made extra capes for the other children to wear around too.

“What was that?  Did someone call for help?  No, it was just mom telling my sister not to touch the cake.”

Batman Party Favors

The dollar store always has great party supplies, so I picked up a few flashlights and made them into Batman party favors with a sharpie.

Since it gets dark fast in the winter here, the kids had a blast playing with them.  You could also make extra bat masks and arm bands to go with them or how about this amazing DIY Batman Play Dough!

Batman Party Food

I ordered a Bakery Crafts cake from my local Walmart.  It saved me a lot of time and I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out.  The best part was how easy it was to order.  I went online and looked at all of their Batman Cake Kits.  Then, I called the bakery department the day before the party with the cake number to place my order.

I chose the plain vanilla flavor of cake and it was delicious, but you also have the choice of chocolate, white, and marble plus a number of fillings like raspberry and even caramel.  I would definitely get another cake like this again!

The Birthday boy was very happy with his cake too!  He couldn’t wait to dig in.

Other snacks that I made were bat Quesadillas, a cheese plate and bat food (veggies).

Batman Party Game

After having cake and snacks, we had a lot of fun beating up some bad guys with homemade punch boxes.   I simply cut the top off of a couple of boxes and painted figures in black on tissue paper.  Then I stuffed toys, books, and candy in the boxes and taped the tissue paper over the openings.  I like to do games like this before opening presents so the other kids have something to play with or can go home if gifts are taking too long.

I was surprised how many punches it took to break the boxes open and I’m sure you can put more layers of tissue paper to make it harder for older children.  The younger children took a punch first and the older ones finished it off.  It was a really fun homemade alternative to the pinata!

It’s not getting any easier – choosing a gift for my daughter’s birthday that is.  Each year her tastes change and mature.  This year she is really into art.

Although, I’m still not sure what to get her as a gift, you really helped me choose the perfect birthday card.  So, I decided to display it in a whimsical way and inspire her future art projects.

The Rainbow Pop-up Musical Card!

Hallmark has so many cards to choose from, but I love this particular card because it is unique, bright, and cheerful.  The music it plays is peaceful and fun – so I won’t be annoyed if Audrey presses the button over and over.

DIY Card Holder

Here’s how I made an easy DIY card holder to showcase Audrey’s birthday cards.

Supplies: Wooden Plaque, Paint (I made my own chalk paint), Wide and Thin Ribbon, Sponge Brush, Glue (use a glue gun), Small Clothes Pins

First, I mixed a heaping 1/4 cup of paint with a 1/4 teaspoon grout and gave my plaque 3 coats of the chalk paint mixture.  Next, I tied a bow with the wide ribbon and sewed it together so it would not come apart.

Finally, I glued on my ribbon to the back of the plaque; the wide ribbon at the top for a hanger and the thin ribbon on the bottom to hold the cards.  To make this quick and easy, use a glue gun or strong craft glue.  Krazy glue, that I have pictured above, didn’t work.

It only took me 1/2 an hour!  It can also double as a hair clip holder.  I love the chalk board feature so I can write special messages or draw pictures for my daughter to brighten her day

Audrey loves looking at all of her cards each day and plays the song on her music card A LOT!  Thanks so much for being apart of her birthday celebration!

Time – there is never enough.  I catch myself hurrying the day along so I can finish all my tasks.  All the while, missing precious moments and opportunities to share heart-felt conversations.

And my little Audrey is turning 6 so soon!  Her past 5 birthdays happened in a whirlwind, as I raced to pull something off last-minute.  Then flash!  It was over and I felt a little guilty knowing I could have done a better job planning .  Well, this year is going to be different.  This birthday will be one Audrey remembers for the rest of her life!  That is why I’m getting an early start and asking for your help choosing a perfect card.

I’m going to start with choosing the perfect card, write my top 10 Birthday Wishes to her in it and take a full day to cherish the precious time I have with my lovely little lady.

Birthday Card Choices

Hallmark has so many beautiful cards!  It was really hard to pick.  Since this is a special occasion, I didn’t pay any attention to the price and grabbed about 10 cards that I really liked.  Slowly, I eliminated them and was left with these 3.
