In reply to <a href="https://www.trueaimeducation.com/school-violence/#comment-4276">Nita</a>.

Hi Nita,

Yes I agree, only they most severe cases make the news. However, I attended a variety public and private schools growing up and saw several fights at all but one of them. I was also involved in several myself. My wife, Janine, never got into a fight, but says that she also witnessed several.

I do realize that not all schools are violent. My senior year I attended a small Christian school and don't recall a single fight the whole year – in any grade! So this post is mostly directed at the parents whose children DO attend violent public schools.

Thank you for the comment!

I have to be honest in saying the violence reported on TV and other media are usually the extreme cases. I've had 2 kids go to both public and private school through high school without uhum major incident. However, I do have to say there is a mix of bullying in schools depending on the school and the environment. But compared to the many SAFE days of school there is, Public or Private traditional schools aren't horrific for the majority of kids. Now, to be honest, the bullying by both teachers and other kids is why I pulled my younger son out of school. And no, the socialization he was getting while at school wasn't healthy. I'm so happy that homeschooling is an option for him and my younger daughter that doing it while I work outside of the home is so worth it. My oldest son, even with having his scraps in school, told me he is glad he wasn't homeschool, lol! Since with mom as his teacher he'll always have to do his work and not fall asleep bored in class.
