This was such a refreshing read, Janine! Hearing parenting wisdom through a child’s lens is something we don’t often consider—but it’s incredibly humbling and insightful. Your daughter’s advice on staying calm and sharing responsibilities really struck a chord with me. As a mom of two and someone who works in both healthcare and parenting education, I’ve learned that giving children a voice in the process not only empowers them but strengthens our bond.

I also loved the reminder that we don’t have to do everything—especially important for those of us juggling work, home, and side projects. On my blog, Breast Pumps Hub, I often talk about the challenges of modern motherhood and offer practical tools and tips, especially for new moms navigating pumping and postpartum life. It’s so encouraging to find spaces like yours that emphasize grace over perfection.

Thank you for sharing your daughter’s perspective—it’s a beautiful reminder to pause and listen more often.

Warmly,
CharlotteRose

Homeschooling is the coolest! I love that I get to learn at my own pace and in a way that makes sense to me. My parents can tailor lessons to my interests, so learning is never boring. Plus, I don't have to deal with bullies or peer pressure.

Here are some of my favorite things about homeschooling:

Learning at my own pace: If I'm good at something, I can move on quickly. And if I need more time to understand something, I can take it slow.
Personalized learning: My parents can teach me in a way that works for me. They can use games, activities, and field trips to make learning fun and engaging.
Stronger family bonds: I get to spend more time with my parents and learn from them every day.
More time for my interests: Homeschooling gives me more time to pursue my hobbies and interests, like playing sports, music, or art.
Fewer distractions: At home, I can focus on my studies without getting interrupted by classmates or classroom noise.
If you're thinking about homeschooling, I say go for it! It's an amazing way to learn and grow.

Your daughter sounds very mature and thoughtful. I love your idea of asking kids for parenting advise. My 15 year old daughter said to start early teaching responsibility and cleaning up after yourself. Also, minimize the amount of things such as toys that can cause messes. I should mention that she has 6 younger brothers. Haha!

Thank you for these great parenting tips from your daughter! I have to agree that staying calm is essential, however it is also the hardest thing sometimes. I love my kids dearly but I get so frustrated. This is something I am always working on.
I also need to play more with my kids, I find that often I get so caught up in all the things we need to get through in a day that I forget to have fun with my kids. My kids do chores every day but I think perhaps they could start doing more and then I might be more relaxed!

It really helped when you said that we should often remind ourselves of how we can be good examples especially in front of our young children. My husband and I have been thinking that our small, trivial fights have been affecting our parenting method. Maybe it's time for us to find a coaching professional who can help us communicate with our children better.
