Hi Diane,

Yes, you are right. I don't mean to imply that homeschooling is no work, just that some homeschoolers unnecessarily make their jobs harder.

I love what you said, "one thing that homeschooling has in common with a piece of cake is that the interaction and time spent together can bring sweetness to the family life." I couldn't agree more! Thank you for commenting.

Janine, I'm glad homeschooling has not been difficult for you, and you have such a good attitude and believe in using discipline and empowerment. Those things will surely make homeschooling go easier. It wasn't always easy for me (am a longtime homeschool mom, with 9 children-- my youngest is 13 now). As kids get older (and as more children join the family, if they do) sometimes things get more complicated.

I personally think that some learning style inquiry was very helpful in my own home, though we didn't take formal tests. Kids can be very different, and teaching in harmony with their learning strengths can make things easier for both you and them.

I consider my many years of homeschooling to have been work that was done with determination, and hope, even through times of discouragement. I would never say it was "as easy as pie" or "a piece of cake." But one thing that homeschooling has in common with a piece of cake is that the interaction and time spent together can bring sweetness to the family life :)
