I didn’t use flash cards until my oldest got into kindergarten but I should have started that earlier. I found that the BOB books to be super helpful with begining reading. I remember the first time we read one of the books, the book was about 7 pages long and had 1 or 2 words on each page. It took us half an hour to read it but her little face lit up with excitement at the end because she realized that she read her first book. I’ll never forget it.
